Director of Music

Staff Parish is accepting applications for the position of Director of Music. This is a part time, salaried position (salary commensurate with experience).

The Director of Music will oversee the music program at Trinity, including direction of the chancel choir, and will report directly to the Senior Pastor.

Requirements: music degree, conducting experience, piano proficiency, be a person of recognized Christian character. Applicant must have effective communication skills, emotional maturity, sound judgment and moral temperament consistent with the teachings of the church, demonstrate discretion and compatibility with the laity and professional staff, and support the liturgy, ritual, and educational ministry of TUMC.

Nursery Coordinator (part-time)

Trinity United Methodist Church currently has a position available for a Part Time Nursery Coordinator.  This position is responsible for the care and nurture of children in the nursery during Sunday morning worship and other designated services or special events.   Major responsibilities are to manage and secure volunteer and paid nursery workers, provide age appropriate child care to children ages 6 weeks-3 years in a Christian environment, provide Bible-centered activities, maintain organization and cleanliness of the space, and operate within the United Methodist Church’s Safe Sanctuary guidelines.  This position supervises nursery staff and volunteers and reports to the Director of Children’s Ministries.  Applicant must be age 21 or over, possess a high school education or above, and have experience with provision of Christian-based learning experiences.  CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.  Work hours include 5 hours on Sundays, 4-hours for Parents Morning Out (Tuesday), and additional hours for special services (i.e, Christmas Eve, Good Friday,)

Position Details:
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Pay rate: $12-$15/hr based on experience

Children's Minister

Full Time Position

The Children’s Minister is committed to love, nurture, inspire and equip our children to be faithful, lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ who reach out to the community and beyond.  This will include evangelism, relationship building and such other ministry involvement that serves to attract children and their parents to Trinity United Methodist Church and ultimately to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• A well established life of spiritual disciplines.  
• A call to full time ministry.
• An alignment with the beliefs and practices of orthodox Christian theology based upon the Scriptures and the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
• A passion for working with children and parents.
• A display of such desirable qualities as teamwork, cooperation, dependability, organization, hard work, respect, staff loyalty, and a teachable spirit.
• Ability to plan, and lead complex projects and activities related to children’s ministries.
• Completion of college level or higher course work in Christian Education and/or Children’s Ministry.  Experience working with children is desired.
• Excellent oral, written and electronic communication skills.
• Possess strong leadership skills, including the ability to enlist volunteers and support them in accomplishing the work of our ministry.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must have a satisfactory background/security check and complete Safe Sanctuary Training.

• Develop, implement and direct programs for the children of our church and geographic area that will promote spiritual growth and wholesome activity.  It is our purpose that these activities will lead to a personal salvation experience, ongoing discipleship, spiritual maturity and provide outreach to the community (e.g. Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, Community Egg Hunt, Community Projects).
• Teach the importance of both home and international missions in the church.  Plan and lead mission activities/service projects for children in the community.
• Oversee and have a regular presence in children’s ministry activities (e.g. Nursery, Sunday School, Children’s Moment, Children’s Church, and other events) offering direction, support and guidance.  This includes supervising the nursery staff.  
• Develop relationships and maintain regular communication with parents.
• Recruit and involve parents and other adults in the overall ministry to the children.  Provide guidance and training for adults working with children’s ministry.
• Keep pertinent quantitative data regarding children’s ministry.  (e.g. attendance and contact information, volunteers, and other information including Safe Sanctuary training).
• Attend and update committees as requested by committee chairs, Pastor or as designated by Church Council.  Attend Council Ministries meetings.
• Attend professional development activities and share strategies with staff at Trinity.  
• Use social media to connect with those involved in the ministries.  
• Lead and partner with Children’s Ministry Advisory Council.
• Work with Pastor to coordinate children’s participation in worship.
• Adhere to Safe Sanctuary Policy and Procedures.
• This position will be accountable to the Pastor as supervisor both spiritually and professionally.  
• Responsible to the Staff Parish Relations Committee for assessment based in part on input from the Pastor.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
